Hi, I’m Danni Unway, Surf Confidence Coach and NCIP-registered Transpersonal Psychotherapist.
I believe that everyone deserves a surfing journey, and a life, filled with joy, purpose, and confidence. But sometimes the ocean (and life!) throws us curveballs that leave us feeling stuck, fearful, or unsure of ourselves.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of helping hundreds of women move through their blockers, fears, and frustrations in the water, guiding them to rediscover their strength, trust themselves, and reconnect with the simple joy of surfing.
I’ve poured my heart into this 12-week Surf Confidence Course to make this work more accessible and deeply transformative. Think of it as a slightly more affordable, yet even more reflective and soul-nourishing journey, a space for you to explore the inner shifts that create lasting change, both in the waves and in your everyday life.
I’m so excited you’re here and ready to take this step. This course is more than just about surfing, it’s about coming home to yourself, embracing your power, and finding freedom in the water and beyond.
Let’s dive in together.
How to use this course
This journey is yours - take it gently, lean in as much as possible, and let it unfold in a way that feels right for you. Here are some guiding tips to help you get the most out of your 12-week Surf Confidence experience:
Be kind to yourself
Growth isn’t always a straight line. Some days will feel exciting, others might feel challenging. Practise meeting yourself with patience and compassion as much as possible.
Journal your reflections
If you’d like, use a special notebook or journal for the reflective exercises. Writing things down can help you process insights and track your progress over time.
Set an intention
At the start of each week or module, pause and set a simple intention, like “I’ll stay curious” or “I’ll notice when fear softens”. It can help focus your energy and attention.
Stay open & honest
Come to each lesson with an open mind and a willingness to be transparent with yourself. The more honest you are, the more powerful the breakthroughs can be.
Welcome discomfort
It’s normal to feel resistance or unease. This is often a sign that you’re exploring important growth edges, take it as evidence that you’re on the right track.
Share your journey
Talk with trusted surf friends or loved ones about your experiences and learnings. Sharing not only deepens your understanding but also strengthens connection and support.
Bring it to the water (or daily life)
Whenever possible, take what you’re learning into the surf, even in small ways. And if you can’t get to the ocean, try putting these insights into practice in your everyday life, what matters most is living the work, not just reflecting on it.
Connect with your body
Surf confidence begins within. Before or after lessons, try a grounding practice, like a few deep breaths, gentle stretching, or mindful movement, to help you feel centred.
Rest when needed
Inner work can be surprisingly tiring. Take breaks, breathe, and care for yourself as you go. There’s no rush.
Explore further learning
You’ll find optional resources included with each lesson. Some aren’t strictly surf-related (this is still a niche topic!), but they offer valuable perspectives to enrich your journey.
Go at your own pace
I recommend 1 (maximum 2) lessons per week to allow time for integration, but trust your own learning style. Move faster or slower if that feels right for you.
Allow yourself to evolve
When journaling, capture how you feel in the moment. It’s perfectly natural for your thoughts, goals, and feelings to shift as you grow.
Celebrate small wins
Notice and honour every shift, insight, or moment of courage, no matter how small. These tiny steps create lasting change.
Revisit when needed
Some modules may call you back later. Feel free to re-watch, re-read, or redo exercises, each time can bring new insights.
Capture your journey
If it feels fun, take photos, notes, or voice memos along the way. It can be inspiring to look back and see how far you’ve come.
Be your own cheerleader
Speak kindly to yourself as you would to a dear friend. Your inner voice matters more than you might realise.
Trust your timing
Your path will look different from anyone else’s. Trust that your process, no matter how fast, slow, or winding, is exactly as it needs to be.

Course FAQ
-
Absolutely. This course isn’t about beginner tips or advanced technique, it’s about the emotional side of surfing that many experienced surfers struggle with silently. If you’ve ever felt stuck, anxious, or disconnected from the joy of surfing, this space is for you - no matter how long you’ve been in the water.
-
That’s totally okay. The tools and reflections in this course are designed to support you whether you surf weekly, once a month or are landlocked and only get in once or twice a year. Many students find that this mindset work helps them want to return to the water, without pressure or guilt.
-
This course is self-paced and intentionally simple, designed to fit around your life, not overwhelm it. Each module has a short video (2-12 mins), a reflection activity, and a downloadable resource. The recommendation is to move through one (max two) lesson(s) per week or go slower, whatever supports your nervous system best.
